What a Disick-head (But He’s Doing His Best): So Sayeth Kris Jenner

March 18, 2010

No one thought Scott Disick would stick around for the long haul when girlfriend Kourtney Kardashian announced she was pregnant with his baby. After all, the two had had a volatile relationship that was often showcased on Meet the Kardashians. Even Kourtney’s mom, Kris Jenner, wasn’t too keen on her future grandson’s dad, claiming that there was “no place” in the family for Scotty-not-so-hotty.

But now that baby Mason has arrived, Scott’s possible future mother-in-law has come around, saying in US that he’s “trying to be a good dad, trying to be a good boyfriend.” Jenner continues to gush, “It’s a lot to handle when you have a brand-new baby, no matter what your situation is,” Jenner says. “I admire him for being a great dad and for working hard at his relationship with Kourtney.”

If only it had been that easy for these other romantically challenged stars, whose parents never quite thought their significant others were up to snuff:

Jamie and Lynn Spears were none too thrilled when Britney brought dancer Kevin Federline home. Things seemed to get even more tense when Brit-Brit married the bad boy and bore two children by him. But when the pop singer’s mental state went south, Lynn Spears actually bonded with her son-in-law (to the point where Britney accused her of having an affair with Federline) and helped him out with Sean Preston and Jaden James while Britney was on the mend.

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey seemed a match made in boy-band/girl crooner heaven. Until, that is, Jessica’s dad, Joe, started interfering not only in their business affairs (Joe was Jessica’s manager), but also in their marital bliss. Lachey even went so far as to insinuate Joe was responsible for the demise of his marriage to Jess. Joe denies he ever played that critical of a role in the failed nuptials—this coming from a guy who micromanaged his daughter’s every move and openly admired her ample bosom. I’m leaning toward Nick on this one.

Amy Winehouse’s parents were openly distraught over the entire course of their baby’s legal union to drugged-out Blake Fielder-Civil. Janis Winehouse wrote an open public letter to her daughter, begging her to come home and get the support she needed from her family to break free of her own addictions. Mitch Winehouse told British TV show This Morning, “I want Blake and his family out of our lives. I just hope Amy can stay away from him. It’s the only chance she has. Blake’s a destructive influence on her life. And he’s a liar.” Don’t hold back, Mitch.

Dina never had a problem with Samantha Ronson, but Lindsay’s dad, Michael (always the epitome of thoughtful restraint), went to town on more than one occasion against his daughter’s girlfriend. Among his main offenses: blasting Ronson on his blog (“Personally, I think she is dark, hideous and a disgusting representation of humanity!”) and accusing the DJ of being a gold-digger and the cause of all of Lindsay’s problems in the news media. These problems couldn’t have started at home, could they, Mike?

Celebrity Kids go to the Gym: Harlow, Apple, Jayden James, and More

March 17, 2010

Harlow Madden was photographed leaving West Hollywood’s Fit for Kids gym yesterday, with mom Nicole Richie in tow. Harlow isn’t the first celebrity kid to hit a child-centered gym for workouts.

Britney Spears’ son Jayden James has been spotted at the My Gym Children’s Fitness Center in Encino, CA. And both Gwyneth Paltrow (with Apple and Moses on hand) and Naomi Watts (who brings along Sasha and Sammy) are regulars at Citibabes, an indoor NYC playspace and movement-center that costs $2100-per-year to join.

Where do your children get their exercise? In the great outdoors? Mine too! But once I make it big, my tot and I are signing up for Citibabes, where we’ll sweat alongside the stars.
